Pacific Island Destinations

Pacific Ocean

The Pacific is one big ‘tranquil’ ocean and comprises 20,000 islands covering 25% of the world’s water.  It is 10,000 miles wide and up to 7 miles deep.  2 million years ago volcanoes created land which accounts for a mere 1% of the area.  We visited 47 of these high and low islands – a meagre 0.25%!  Not included are the islands of Indonesia.
