Summary of an Amazing Fortnight!

From Yangon, to Pindaya and the Inle Lake, on to Mandalay, by river boat to Bagan, back to Yangon and on to Mawlamyine, we have had a truly wonderful time, though are definitely for the moment pagoda’d, temple’d and buddha’d out!  Our understanding of Buddhism has improved 100%; we are mindful that it is not simply a religion followed by many, but a culture that is part of daily life.  It has been a richly rewarding experience in terms of the treasures we have seen, the wonderful sights, as well of course meeting and understanding the gentle people, and how their lives are affected by the regime. The greed, corruption and pockets of violence is sad, yet despite their repression, the folk are charming and appear happy.

This is all part of the Myanmar story.  It is an enchanting country and well worth visiting now, as more areas become accessible to foreigners and before mass tourism takes over. We were privileged to be able to travel here and learn so much.  Santa Maria Tours have looked after us extremely well with a dedicated guide and driver at each destination – just for us!  We would thoroughly recommend their services to other travellers.

Chei-zu bar Myanmar and Ta-Ta!

Thank you Myanmar and Goodbye!
